The Schmidt-brothers Rolf and Paul started their career in motor racing as mechanics and car manufacturers in 1968.
The first car was a Renault 8 Gordini for rallyes, but in the years to come Schmidt racing also developed sport prototypes and even carried out maintenance on a Formula-1-car. But until today Schmidt racing earned his main reputation in rallying.
Schmidt racing operated almost on all continents: international and national rallies and hill-climbs, endurance races in Europe and America, cars for special series and Rallyecross. Schmidt racing also developed some prototypes for the IMSA-races in the United States.
In Europe Schmidt racing also carried out engine developments and alternative energys and even built electric powered cars.
In the last fifteen years the world of rallying was the main business of Schmidt racing – many national titles in Europe and in other continents have been won with cars “made in Austria”. This titles remain the main motivation for the members of Schmidt racing until these days.
